Pick one: northern geology or Cape Hauy. Do not stack both capes and a full Port Arthur Historic Site ticket. Historic Site is a separate ticket.
Before you leave Hobart
- Parks Pass bought / screenshot (passes.parks.tas.gov.au)
- Alerts checked — especially Arch/Kitchen 15 Apr–29 Sep 2026 closure
- Named Plan A and Plan B (left too late = geology, not compressed Hauy)
- Fuel and food — Sorell or Hobart
- Shell, grip shoes, water, snacks
- Emergency+ installed (000 needs reception)
If geology
- Tessellated Pavement (tide)
- Blowhole
- Arch/Kitchen only if open — else Waterfall Bay Road
- Leave before dusk wildlife on A9
If Cape Hauy
- Early leave (~90 min via Sorell then A9)
- C344 12 km unsealed to Fortescue
- 9.4 km / ~4 hrs / Grade 3 — reverse same way
- No Three Capes hut loop without a booking
- No Cape Raoul the same day
Skip if short
- Both capes
- Starting Hauy after a late Hobart brunch
- Gate-hopping a closed Arch/Kitchen site
