Port Arthur Historic Site is not a Parks Pass
Three tills on one peninsula: Tasmania Parks Pass, Fortescue camping, Three Capes booking — and a fourth ticket at Port Arthur Historic Site. Mixing them is how days and budgets break.

Best for: Anyone stacking the Historic Site with park walks in one sentence
Unofficial guide — always verify track conditions, closures, fees and safety with Parks Tasmania. Place photos are Wikimedia Commons / CC where credited — not official Parks Tasmania imagery and not live conditions.
Some stay, tour and gear links may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Parks Pass fees, Fortescue Bay camping fees and official Three Capes / Parks Tasmania bookings are never affiliated.

Port Arthur Historic Site is World Heritage convict tourism next door to the national park. It has its own ticket, queues and clock. Visitors treat it as “the park entry” and then meet a Parks Pass machine at Fortescue or a closed lookout. This guide keeps the tills separate.
Desk research against Parks Tasmania public pages (26 Aug 2026). Confirm live prices. This site never affiliates park fees, camping or Three Capes bookings.
Four tickets people mash together
A. Tasmania Parks Pass — required for national park entry (day/holiday/annual products). B. Fortescue Bay camping — site fee. C. Three Capes Track booking — hut walk. D. Port Arthur Historic Site — separate operator. This website does not sell any of them.
What belongs on a Historic Site afternoon
The site itself, maybe Remarkable Cave if you still have an hour and a Parks Pass. Not Cape Hauy. Not Cape Raoul. Not “we’ll just quickly do Crescent Bay.”
What belongs on a park day

Eaglehawk Neck geology or Fortescue / Cape Hauy. Parks Pass. Reverse clock. Historic Site only if you overnight or you already spent a dedicated day there.
FAQ
Tap a question to expand the answer.
If I already paid for Port Arthur, do I still need a Parks Pass for Cape Hauy?
Yes for an ordinary day walk. Three Capes booking is the exception that includes a parks pass for the walk window — you still cannot treat a standalone Historic Site ticket as Fortescue entry.
Does a cruise from the Historic Site jetty include the Parks Pass?
Confirm the product page. A Cape Raoul wilderness cruise is a commercial boat. It is not Cape Hauy’s walking platform and not a substitute Parks Pass unless the operator says so in writing.

- Plan B — Tasmans Arch and Devils Kitchen closed (2026 works)
Tasmans Arch and Devils Kitchen visitor site is closed 15 April–29 September 2026. What still works: Tessellated Pavement, Blowhole, Waterfall Bay via Waterfall Bay Road — not a gate-hop and not an automatic Cape Hauy.
- Plan B — left Hobart too late for Cape Hauy
You left Hobart after 10am and Cape Hauy’s 4-hour return no longer fits a dusk wildlife buffer. Named failure, named Plan B: Eaglehawk Neck geology, not a compressed cape death-march.
